About Matt Shanahan

I grew up in the Victorian basketball system, starting as a junior representative player and working my way up to the state level. My journey led me to an AIS scholarship and the opportunity to represent Australia in the Under-19 World Championships, where we won a silver medal.

Over my career, I played 419 NBL games, became a three-time NBL champion, and competed at the highest level of the sport. With over 20 years of coaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of developing some of the country’s top athletes and achieving success at every level, including an Under-14 National Championship and back-to-back Under-18 National Championships with Vic Metro

As a five-time gold medallist for Vic Metro, I bring a deep understanding of team play and athletic development, and I’m passionate about helping the next generation of athletes reach their full potential.
